Underage drinking

Underage drinking has been a major issue globally and especially within the United States of America. As you can tell from the terms ‘Underage drinking’ it is the consumption of alcohol under the legal age. In America the legal age to drink is 21, they are also permitted to purchase alcoholic drinks at this age.


Underage drinking has many negative affects to the human body with overuse. A lot of damage takes places on the brain and many other problems like liver damage and kidney failures: All of which increase death possibilities. Not only does it affect the inner body, it affects the person’s personality. People who are usually hyper, interactive and sociable become anti-sociable due to the affects on the brain. Also, an increase of depression and misery.  It is well known that these problems do occur throughout society. 

Statistics show each year, approximately 5,000 young people under the age of 21 die as a result of underage drinking; this includes about 1,900 deaths from motor vehicle crashes, 1,600 as a result of homicides, 300 from suicide, as well as hundreds from other injuries such as falls, burns, and drowning. 
Recently, on the news it has been exposed that a lot of young children have been dropping out of school due to the circumstances of drinking. This has affected their education and the people around them.
 
In conclusion, we have learnt that there are many negative effects to drinking and our aim as individuals is to educate the youth and guide them correctly to avoid this serious issue within our country.
